On November 11th, the naming and delivery ceremony of No.16 81,200 DWT bulk carrier, JY Atlantic, built by ChengXi Shipyard CO., Ltd. was held. Representatives of shipowners, project supervisors, representatives of classification society, leaders of the company and guests attended this ceremony.
Godmother, Guo Jia, named the #16 81,200 DWT bulk carrier as the "JY ATLANTIC" and cut the ribbon in the ceremony. She wished this vessel would set sail at sea from tide and winds and bring fortune and good luck to shipowner’ s company.
It is the eighth in ten 81,200 DWT bulk carriers built by ChengXi Shipyard CO., Ltd. for Bank of Communications Financial Leasing Co., Ltd. as well as the 16th new shipbuildings delivered by it in 2019.
The fitting-out took 73 days and the sea trial lasted 78 hours. Finally, the construction time and the delivery time happen in the same year.
Taiwanese bulker operator, Taiwan Navigation, has announced new shipbuilding orders of two bulk carriers at two Japanese yards as it continues to expand its fleet.
The company will order an 80,000 DWT bulk carrier and a 60,000 DWT bulk carrier at Namura Shipbuilding and Oshima Shipbuilding respectively. The total value of the contracts is $64.1m.
Taiwan Navigation placed orders for two 81,600 DWT bulk carriers at Oshima and two 80,000 DWT bulk carriers Namura earlier this year.
The company’s fleet currently stands at 18 ones.
Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Ltd. gained the order for building six 31800DWT Great Lakes bulk carriers. It was placed by Navigation Maritime Bulgare, the largest Bulgarian shipping company.And four of six vessels will be delivered between 2021 and 2022 and the remaining two vessels are optional ones.
These vessels can meet the International Maritime Organization (IMO)’s Nox Tier III regulations as well as the IMO 2020 requirements of sulfur emissions.

Taiwanese bulk carrier owner Wisdom Marine has approved a plan to order two 82,300 DWT Kamsarmax vessels at Tsuneishi Zhoushan shipyard.
The price for each ship is $33m, and other details of the deal were not disclosed.
Wisdom Marine is currently in the middle of a fleet optimization program, having ordered two Handymax bulkers at Japan’s Imabari Shipbuilding.
The company is also looking to dispose of more aging vessels this year.
Wisdom Marine currently owns a fleet of 129 vessels and has 12 new shipbuildings on its order.
BW has returned to South Korean yard Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) for the construction of two 174,000 cum LNG carriers.
According to Clarksons, the company placed the order for a price of $186.9m each. Delivery of the vessels is scheduled in June and September of 2022.
This latest order adds to BW Gas’ existing order of four 173,400 cum LNG carriers at DSME.
BW Gas currently runs a fleet of 18 gas carriers made up of 14 large LNG carriers and four FSRUs, with 16 of the vessels built by DSME.
At 1:00 pm on October 24, No. 1 dry dock of New Times Shipbuilding CO., LTD. was opened on time with the help of the maritime tugboat as the earlier preparations of launching the vessel were ready.The second 325,000 DWT ultra-large ore carrier was launched successfully from the dock.
The length overall of this vessel is 340 meters, the Length between perpendiculars (LBP) is 333.1 meters, the width is 62 meters and the depth is 29.5 meters. The scantling draft is 21.4 meters and it is classified under the Korean Register of Shipping. Furthermore, this giant can carry 325,000 DWT goods. This is the second of six 325,000 DWT ore carriers built by New Times Shipbuilding CO., LTD. for Pan Ocean CO., LTD. And the construction of the following four ships is being carried out in an orderly manner.
Belgian offshore service provider Jan De Nul has secured a contract for its jack-up installation vessel Voltaire.
The vessel will transport and install the world’s largest offshore wind turbines at GE’s Haliade-X at the Dogger Bank site off the Yorkshire coast.
Jan De Nul ordered the vessel, featuring a lifting capacity of over 3,000 tonnes, at COSCO Nantong Shipyard in April this year and delivery is scheduled in 2022. The contract marks the first-ever project for the vessel.

Kyoei Tankers, a unit of Japan’s NYK Group, has placed an order at domestic yard Namura Shipbuilding for the construction of a 310,000 DWT VLCC.
According to a report by shipbroking house Advanced Shipping & Trading, the scrubber fitted vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2021 and the price for the new ship is $95m.
Kyoei Tankers currently operates a fleet of 15 vessels made up of eight oil tankers, two VLGCs and five bulk carriers.
The company is currently expanding its VLCC fleet and it is going to take delivery of three VLCC vessels from Namura and Japan Marine United this year.
Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) hassigned shipbuilding contracts with South Korean yard Daewoo Shipbuilding &Marine Engineering (DSME) for the construction of five 23,000 TEU megacontainerships for around $762m in total.
The latest order is an option exercised byMSC as part of an 11-ship order made by the company back in September 2017.
MSC predicted a significant number of13,000TEU and 14,000 TEU vessels will come off-hire in the coming years and thenew order is expected to effectively replace this fleet.
MSC has already taken delivery of two23,000 TEU ships from DSME this year, and delivery of these latest shipsordered is expected in 2021.
On the morning of October 12, 2019, SITC and Yangzijiang Shipbuilding held the delivery and signing ceremony for “SITC CEBU.”
Six 2400 TEU containerships were developed and designed by SDARI for SITC and built by Yangzijiang Shipbuilding. These vessels were equipped with high-speed S-Bow, highly efficient propeller and skew rudder, ensuring the consistent performance of the ship, main engine, paddle and steering.
The vessel is classified to DNV GL. All indicators can meet the requirements of the specification and contract, especially in terms of deadweight, speed, fuel consumption, 14 tons of containers. Furthermore, the EEDI exceeds Phase three requirements. All of these elements won the praise of shipowners.
