On 28th November, a pageant gathering well-known experts, famous shipping & shipbuilding enterprises decision-makers and relevant government officials – China Shipbuilding & International Ship-trading Summit 2011 was held in Intercontinental Shanghai Expo. At the second summit for shipbuilding and ship-trading, which is co-organized by the Associations of Shipbuilding Industry in Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang, all the participants together endeavor to address the current difficulties and explore development strategies for ship-related enterprises.
Currently, global shipbuilding industry is confronted with numerous difficulties: continuing global shipping downturn, declining new orders, rising delivery delay, growing intensified competition, increasing difficult financing, soaring shipbuilding cost, sluggish economic environment, etc. All these severely hinder the paces for ship-related companies’ development.
At the summit, outstanding experts from relevant national ministries and administrations make in-depth analysis on the development and future roads of Chinese shipbuilding industry under new IMO regulations. Senior representatives from famous shipbuilders, shipowners, shipbrokers and ship financing institutions share their experience and in-depth opinions about the current market. Besides, the participants also benefit a lot from the speeches about ship-related laws and contracts.
The speakers and the participants sincerely and ardently exchange and share their understandings and try to find answers for their questions about the mixed market from each other. Elite people from different areas eagerly enrich their knowledge about current shipping and shipbuilding industry as well as related fields.
In the end, all the discussions and exchanges come to an consensus: the shipbuilding market would not see another peak in the next few years.
However, it is a good opportunity for all the shipbuilding enterprises and shipowners to optimize their production and management to embrace the next market peak.

Introduction:
This 28 – 30 November 2011, Asia’s largest OSV conference goes to China, as the producers of the premier Offshore Support Vessels (OSV) annual conference series in Singapore will be hosting the inaugural Offshore Support Vessels China conference at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai.
About 1 trillion yuan is expected to be invested during the implementation of China’s 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015), with the majority going to offshore oil exploration. In addition, with Chinese shipyards accounting for over 40% of global AHTS, and 20% of PSV orders, it is evident that the country is seeking more dependence on marine industries as a strategic development move.
With CNOOC alone showing a 30% increase in CAPEX spend during 2010, the Offshore Support Vessels China conference will put the focus on contracting opportunities in China’s domestic offshore logistics sector, and will also review the critical role of China’s shipbuilding industry on the markets.
Learn the secrets of the world’s largest offshore vessel builder at this year’s Offshore Support Vessels China conference, where you will get a chance to hear directly from Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group. Chairman and CEO, Simon Liang, will explain the group’s secret of success on a more strategic level while Chief Technical Officer, Ye Zhao, will discuss their progress and efforts on technology and design of OSVs.
Co-located with the 5th Annual Bunkering in Asia and the 11th International Dry Bulk Review conference, the Offshore Support Vessels Chinaconference will provide a prime platform to network with top global and industry executives from across the offshore marine and oil & gas value chain.
An unparalleled line-up of speakers comprising shipowners, shipbuilders, oil & gas players, and industry experts will be on hand, including leading regional players like Pipavav Defence and Offshore Engineering, Drydocks World, Hallin Marine, Mermaid Maritime, Wintermar Offshore Marine Group, Reliance Industries and Nam Cheong.
Apart from the Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group, other key players in China that will provide market updates and shed light on opportunities for local and international companies include SINOPEC, China Merchants Heavy Industry (Shenzhen), the China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation, International Far Eastern Leasing, Germanischer Lloyd, and Bureau Veritas.
In addition, attendees will also get to hear from international experts such as Wartsila Ship Design, DNV, Cargotec Marine, ABB Marine and Ulstein, on new technology and design.
Highlights of the event include a Ship Owner Panel forecasting new build requirements and expectations from shipyards, a Shipyard Panel on leveraging new technologies in building highly sophisticated OSVs, new developments in AHTS and PSVs, as well as identifying and overcoming the challenges for international shipowners placing orders in China.
Key topics such as China’s shipbuilding role in the global OSV market, OSV shipbuilding developments and trends in China, strategies to improve shipyard competitiveness in the offshore marine sector, and how PRC shipbuilders are positioned on the technological ladder, will also be discussed at this inaugural event.

Introduction:
During the China 12th Five-Year-Plan, China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and China Petrochemical Corporation (SINOPEC) are boosting their investments in offshore projects. It is predicted that during the "12th Five-Year-Plan Period ” ,the market scale of the Chinese offshore oil field service industry (including drilling) will reach RMB 190 billion. Under this industry developing momentum, some experts has claimed that the depletion of oil and gas resources in shallow water, coupled with the increase in energy demand, will force the China petroleum industry to move into deeper water.
Increasing Deep and Ultra-deep Water Exploration and Production is Driving the Growth of the FPSO Industry. However, it is not possible to extrapolate the shallow water technology into deep waters. To meet the market demand, the petroleum industry is developing and implemen-ting new technologies based on limited experience, as full-scale experi-mental verification is not always possible. There is an urgent need to study these new technologies, as the consequences of failure of such systems are enormous. A failure, apart from causing financial loss, may also lead to environmental hazards such as oil spills, which may endanger the sea flora and fauna.
The FPSO China Summit 2011 organized by Genesis Resourcing Consulting China will gather 200+ decision makers from global industry leading companies, institutes, association and government to draw the blueprint for the development of China FPSO industry. This innovative and focused business event will provide you with a precious networking platform and konwledge pool to map out your own business development strategis and position your service for maximum market share beyond 2011 in China! We are looking forward to meet you in Shanghai!
