This special meeting coincides with the  exhibition of The Marintec China and is also one of the first "Pudong Shipping Week" series of activities. A platform to discuss the opportunities and challenges in ship trading and jointly seek the direction of future development.
Since its establishment 30 years ago, the China Shipowners Association has always been dedicated to serving the industry and its responsibility to play the role of an industry association platform. We feel that this conference is particularly important in promoting the healthy development of shipping companies and providing development ideas. The fleet size held by Chinese shipowners has reached 249.2 million gross tons. China’s fleet size has surpassed Greece for the first time and has become the “world’s largest shipowner country”. This means that our country’s shipping industry has a leading position in the world’s shipping industry. Considerable scale of hard power, and future development will focus on the improvement of soft power such as comprehensive shipping competitiveness and comprehensive shipping service levels. China must not only become a "Shipping Power Country", but also a " Strong Shipping Country".Compared with new shipbuilding, ship trading and second-hand ship buying and selling are more flexible and challenging ways to increase transportation capacity, and ship trading is one of the important ways for the rise of China's shipping industry. Ship trading covers multiple aspects including ship bidding, standard text of ship trading contracts, ship brokerage, ship import and export agency, ship evaluation, ship inspection, financial services, supply chain services, and legal and insurance services. The recently adopted Beijing Convention has also filled the gap in international rules in the field of judicial sale of ships, and will play a positive role in facilitating ship transactions, promoting shipping development, and prospering global trade.

Shanghai Marine Tech Group, as a modern service enterprise for ship trading that has been working in the shipbuilding industry for 30 years, has been based on the international ship trade business for many years. Its business cooperation scope has spread all over the world and has become a well-known brand and leading company in the ship trading industry. In promoting shipping enterprises It has played an extremely important role in fleet renewal, asset optimization, and rational allocation of resources, and has been widely praised as an important partner of shipowners. After years of development, the business has covered four major business sectors: ship trading, energy trading, ocean transportation and ship e-commerce. In this new era, JIUHE has set sail for the sea.

Today's world is facing major changes unseen in a century. The economic and political situation is becoming increasingly complex, the world's economic recovery is lacking momentum, and the international situation facing shipping development is becoming more complex and severe. As the "spokesperson of Chinese shipowners", the China Shipowners Association will continue to play an active role as an industry organization and promote the healthy and sustainable development of China's shipping industry.
Zhang Yongfeng, Secretary of the Shanghai International Shipping Research Center, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Research on the Current International Dry Bulk Cargo Market Cycle and Investment Suggestions". He analyzed the overall situation of the current international dry bulk cargo market from a macro perspective. At the same time, he believed that the feasibility of small ships Only with good sustainability can market performance be good. In addition, it also elaborates on the international shipping market cycle and predicts future market trends. It is recommended that ship owners have the determination and confidence to survive the 60% "hard days".

Immediately afterwards, Liu Siyuan, deputy general manager of Shanghai JIUHE Ship Import and Export Company gave a keynote speech on "Opportunities and Challenges of International Ship Transactions in 2024", citing cases of transacted ships and analyzing the price trend of bulk carriers, container ships and oil tankers in the past five years. He believes that the reason for the surge in ship prices and rents this year is mainly driven by the following three factors: the "black swan" incident, the reduction of shipping capacity on the route, and the increase in oil tanker shipping distance caused by the Russia-Ukraine war, and the increase in dynamic capacity demand. Finally, he proposed that "cash is king" will be the main rhythm of the future.

During the round-table discussion, Wang Ting, deputy general manager of Jiade (Zhejiang Free Trade Zone) Logistics company, Liu Siyuan, deputy general manager of Shanghai JIUHE Ship Import and Export Company, Lu Aizhi, partner of HFW Law Firm, and Cai Kai, business development manager of VesselsValue, they conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as ship investment under the influence of market fluctuations, and each expressed their insights.
