Belgian offshore service provider Jan De Nul has secured a contract for its jack-up installation vessel Voltaire.
The vessel will transport and install the world’s largest offshore wind turbines at GE’s Haliade-X at the Dogger Bank site off the Yorkshire coast.
Jan De Nul ordered the vessel, featuring a lifting capacity of over 3,000 tonnes, at COSCO Nantong Shipyard in April this year and delivery is scheduled in 2022. The contract marks the first-ever project for the vessel.
“We are delighted to be selected as the transport and installation contractor for the
next generation of turbines at Dogger Bank. The size of this giant project coincides perfectly with the capacities of our jack-up vessel Voltaire.
