The first conversion from a crude tanker to FSO (Floating storage and offloading) designed by Marine Design & Research Institute of China (MARIC) was officially completed and delivered to China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC). The FSO “Hai Yang Shi You 121” was converted from Aframax crude carrier Feng Huang Zhou which was completed construction in January 2006.

The crude oil tanker “Hai Yang Shi You 121” is classed by CCS and ABS under the flag of Liberia. It can operate from 106m to 146m in the depth of sea waters and it is designed to shelter from the typhoon with a single point internal turret mooring system.
