Jinhui snaps up Kamsarmax in latest fleet renewal move
Chinese bulker owner and operator Jinhui Shipping and Transportation is further expanding its fleet with a modern kamsarmax purchase.
The Oslo- and Hong Kong-listed outfit has emerged behind a recently reported deal for the 81,567 dwt 2019 Jiangsu Hantong-built Vincent Trader, paying just over $31.1m.
The vessel, estimated at $30.3m by the online pricing platform VesselsValue, is set to deliver between April and mid-June this year on a free-from-charter basis.
The Vincent Trader is one of the four vessels Vincent Shipping had on bareboat charter from Japanese owner Nisshin Shipping with purchase options, and the Norwegian operator has reportedly shipped out all of them and exited the dry bulk segment.
Jinhui made several transactions last year to clear out older vessels while bringing in younger replacements. The company recently chartered in a 2021-built kamsarmax and snapped up a 2012-built capesize for $30.95m. The latest kamsarmax move will add to Jinhui’s 23 owned bulkers mostly made up of supramaxes and ultramaxes.
