Recently, CNOOC Energy Technology & Services signed a basic design contract for 30,000-cbm LNG carrier with the Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute (SDARI).
The small and medium-size LNG carrier is designed in China for the first time. The newbuilding, 185.2m in length, will become the world's largest LNG carrier with a cargo tank of Type C (fully pressurized type).
The vessel, equipped with DFDE (Dual Fuel Diesel Electric) propulsion system, lowers harmful substance emission.
SDARI will have an intellectual property rights for the design.
Meanwhile, CNOOC Energy is working hard to create an LNG business chain, from development to building LNG terminal.
