Taiwanese carrier TS Lines is adding more tonnage to its fleet， signing up for 2，900 teu containerships at China’s Fujian Mawei Shipyard in a deal worth $168.6m.

The Hong Kong-listed intra-Asia operator has contracted four firm vessels， with deliveries slated by May 2029， further building out its feeder fleet.

The latest order follows a pair of similar newbuildings contracted in November 2025 for delivery between mid- and late-2028， also at Fujian Mawei， taking the company’s total 2，900 teu series at the yard to six.

The move extends a relationship between TS Lines and the Chinese builder that dates back to 2021， when the carrier launched a major newbuilding programme. That earlier series included eight 1，100 teu ships and six 2，900 teu vessels — at the time the largest containership project undertaken by the yard — with all units delivered by early 2024.

TS Lines， ranked 20th globally， operates a fleet of about 40 ships， largely focused on intra-Asia trades. The company has been steadily renewing and expanding its fleet to stay competitive in the regional feeder segment.

The Mawei orders come on top of a separate series of larger ships booked last year at Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding， where TS Lines is building 5，000–5，300 teu vessels for delivery across 2028 and 2029.
