Chinese tanker owner Huizhou Rongsheng Shipping is pressing ahead with fleet renewal and expansion plans after ordering four stainless steel chemical tankers at Ligong Shipbuilding (Ezhou), also known as WUT Guangda Shipbuilding.

The deal covers two 25,900 dwt vessels and two smaller 13,000 dwt units, with deliveries scheduled across 2027 and 2028. No financial details were disclosed.

Founded in 2008, Huizhou Rongsheng operates roughly 15 vessels and focuses on shipping of chemicals and refined oil products along China’s coastal trades as well as the Yangtze River and Pearl River systems. The company has historically expanded its operations by ordering specialised vessels from major domestic shipbuilders such as Hubei Hechuang Heavy Industry and China Merchants Jinling Shipyard.

For Ligong Shipbuilding, a joint venture between Wuhan University of Technology (WUT Ship) and Ezhou Guangda Shipbuilding, the contract adds another notable project to its orderbook. The yard, established in 2017 in Hubei Province, China, has been expanding its presence in the construction of specialised vessels after previously delivering feedermax newbuilds for domestic owners.
