Hyundai Heavy Industries of South Korea inked an order for additional 160,000-cbm LNG carrier from a Greek owner Tsakos Energy Navigation.
The signing ceremony was held during 'Posidonia 2012'. The contract is said to value in the excess of $208m, with delivery slated for Q1 2015. Option for additional one vessel is also included.
Hyundai has bagged every newbuilding LNG carrier ordered by the Greek owner. Besides 150,000 cbm 'Neo Energy' delivered in 2007, Hyundai contracted one 160,000 cbm newbuilding in April 2012.
The latest contract is an option exercised from an order contracted in April and a third option for one vessel has newly been included.
Tsakos plans to continue newbuilding investment for LNG carrier, aiming to own around 10 LNG carriers by 2018.
