It is prospected that export of ship product and others will be favorable, while steel products, etc. will see decrease in the second half of this year.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTLE) held a meeting at the Korea International Trade Association to check exporting companies from some industries and trading environment in H2.
MOTLE expected that ship, wireless communications apparatus, etc., will stay strong, on the other hand, steel, petrochemistry, computer and others will be weaker in the second half of 2013.
As for weather chart for export activity in H2, ship, wireless communications apparatus, automobile and semiconductor are 'Sunny' and would see more than 7% of increase in export year-on-year, while textile, automobile component, general machinery and home electronics are 'Cloudy' with 0-7% of increases. Petrochemistry, LCD devices, oil product, computer and steel are forecasted 'Rain' and would decrease exports.
As for ship segment, it would expand construction of high-value special ship, including FPSO, drillship, LNG carrier, etc., and would see a clear uptrend in export by base effect, etc.
However, it is pointed out that there will be difficulties, such as declining export in commercial ship segment, continued weak export to EU amid financial crisis in EU, etc.
