Jiangsu Ship Order-intake Surged
In the first half of this year, shipbuilding industry of Jiangsu Province, China, saw declined delivery and orderbook against a year ago due to recession in global shipbuilding industry, however new order intakes turned out to have increased for the last consecutive six months.
According to data from the Jiangsu Economic and Information Technology Commission of China, in this year to June, Jiangsu-based yards delivered a total of 186 vessels of 6.63m dwt declined by 32.9% in dwt terms from a year ago, which accounted for 11.3% of global market and 32.2% shares of Chinese market, said chinashipnews.com. Of which, ships for export took 90%.
In the year to June, Jiangsu yards won orders for 193 vessels of 6.80m dwt increased by 189.7% in dwt terms from the same time period a year ago, of which ships for export accounted for 91.6% of total, 13.7% of global market and 29.7% of Chinese market.
Especially, 13 major builders in Jiangsu won 92 newbuildings of a combined 5.71m dwt, taking 83.9% of total.
According to chinashipnews.com, as of the end of June, orderbook of Jiangsu shipbuilding industry stood at 842 vessels of 40.11m dwt declined by 17.5% from a year ago in dwt terms, of which ships for export accounted for 87.1% of total, 16.3% of global market and 36.8% of Chinese market.
