Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry to build world's biggest Ro-Ro passenger ship

Xiamen is creating the world’s largest RO-RO Passenger Ship that will be able to hold 8,500 cars. The ship is expected to be completed and exported to Norway in the first quarter of 2015.

The ship, made by the Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co, Ltd, will be 199.9 meters long and 36.5 meters wide. It features a 14-story parking deck of 710,00 square meters – equal to the total area of 10 football fields. It will be able to hold 8,500 cars and 1,630 passengers, the top carrying capacity in the world.

As the first of six luxurious ships that were commissioned by Hoegh Autoliners in January 2013, it will be the largest, fastest, safest, most advanced, and most stable RO-RO Passenger Ship in World.

The Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co, Ltd. has previously made 18 RO-RO Passenger Ships that are able to hold 4,900 cars, with clients from England, Germany, and Norway. So far this year, the company has signed a total of 52 Ro-Ro Passenger Ship orders with companies from foreign countries.
