Yang Ming Names 3rd CSBC Newbuild

YM Enlightenment, a 4,662teu full-container vessel built for the Taiwanese shipping company Yang Ming by CSBC Corp., Taiwan, was named at a ceremony held at CSBC Kaohsiung Shipyard on Jan. 5, 2015.

YM Enlightenment is the third of five 4,662teu full-container vessels built for Yang Ming by CSBC CORP.

The new ship is 259m in length, 37.3m in width. It has 400 reefer plugs and a draft of 12.8m. The vessel can cruise at a speed up to 22.9 knots.

YM Enlightenment is to be deployed in the CPX Service (China – Pakistan Express).

Yang Ming Marine Transportation Corp.(YM) is also introducing a new Japan-Taiwan-Thailand service (dubbed JT2 service) beginning on Jan. 8, 2015.

JT2 service is jointly operated by YM and APL CO. PTE LTD. (APL) with a total of three container vessels of nominal 1,800 TEU capacity. YM will deploy one vessel and APL two vessels. The rotation of JT2 service is Laem Chabang–Hong Kong – Kaohsiung – Osaka – Kobe – Moji – Hakata – Kaohsiung – Chiwan – Laem Chabang.
