Dalian Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (DSIC) secured its first large LNG carrier order on Jan. 16, becoming the second to build large LNG carriers in China after Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd, according to a domestic shipping news provider.

China's leading shipping company China Shipping and Asia’s largest refiner Sinopec called for bids on August 2014 to construct the two 174,000cbm LNG carriers for the Phase II of an LNG project.

On Aug. 28, 2012, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) was the successful bidder to build 4+1+1 174,000cbm LNG ships for the Phase I of the project, the report added.
