CIMC Raffles to Secure Semi-submersible Order

Chinese shipbuilder Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Limited (CIMC Raffles) will secure an order of two semi-submersible drilling platforms soon, a domestic shipping news portal reported, citing Yu Ya, the yard’president.
CIMC Raffles will ink the contract with a European ship owner soon, said an unidentified source, noting that the pair will adopt the BT5000 design of Bassoe Technology, a ship designer based in Sweden.
BT5000-type drilling platforms can operate as deep as 1,500 meters underwater and drill as deep as 9,144 meters, the report added.
CIMC Raffles is specialized in the designing and construction of deep-water offshore equipment.
