YM Express Joins Yang Ming's Fleet

Taiwanese shipping company Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation has received YM Express, a 4,662teu full-container ship built by compatriot CSBC CORP.

YM Express is the fifth of five eco-friendly 4,662teu full-container vessels built for Yang Ming by CSBC CORP. The new ship measures 259 meters in length and 37.3 meters in width, with 400 reefer plugs and a draft of 12.8 meters. The vessel can cruise at a speed up to 22.9 knots.

"Yang Ming strives not only for environmental protection but also for lowering the average age of its ships. The new generation ships incur lower operational costs and consume energy more efficiently," said the company.

YM Express is to be deployed in the CPX Service (China-Pakistan Express ). The ship's ports of call will include: Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Singapore, Karachi, Mundra, Port Kelang, Singapore, Hong Kong.

The ship, flying the Liberian flag, is scheduled to kick off its maiden voyage on May 21, starting its round-trip from Shanghai.
