MPA Participates in China's 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Maritime Forum
Chief Executive of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), Mr. Andrew Tan delivered a keynote speech at the "Sailing for More" International Maritime Conference held in conjunction with China Maritime Day at Ningbo, China on July 10, 2015, MPA said in its press release.
In his speech, Mr. Tan said that China's 21st Century Maritime Silk Road could help foster greater regional integration based on the principles of openness and inclusiveness, mutual cooperation and benefit, complementarity with existing regional architectures and leveraging on advances in new technology, ideas and best practices. Mr. Tan added that Singapore and China enjoy close cooperation and ports like Ningbo and Singapore could play important roles in the development of the new Maritime Silk Road.
The China Maritime Day was held from July 9 to July 11, 2015. Mr Tan also visited the Port of Ningbo, now the world's 4th largest port by container volume after Shenzhen, Singapore and Shanghai.
