Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry has inked shipbuilding contracts with Cardiff Marine for the construction of four 115,000dwt Aframax tankers, with two further options.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

The ships are designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI) and deliveries will commence from 2017.

Cardiff Marine ordered two similar Aframax tankers at Hantong in July at a price of US$46.5m each.
