OOCL Names Its Latest Trans-Pacific Bound Boxship

Hong Kong-based container shipping company Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has named its latest 8,888teu container vessel at a christening ceremony held on Changxing Island in Shanghai, on Wednesday, Aug. 26.

The OOCL Genoa was named by her sponsor Mrs. Tamiko Onaka at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co. The ship is scheduled to join the company's fleet this year and will serve the OOCL South China 2 service.

The OOCL Genoa will be serving the Trans-Pacific trade lane on the South China 2 service, with the following port rotation: Da Chan Bay / Hong Kong / Yantian / Kaohsiung / Long Beach / Kaohsiung / Xiamen / Hong Kong / and Da Chan Bay in 42-day round trip.
