Island Offshore Lays up PSV Duo
Island Offshore has said it is laying up platform supply vessels Island Dragon and Island Duchess.
Island Dragon has been taken out of operation with Lundin at the Edvard Grieg field, to be replaced by Island Commander due to the need for a larger deck capacity.
Håvard Ulstein, managing director of Island Offshore, commented, "The situation in the spot market is still fragile and we cannot justify letting Island Dragon operate in this market. This means that we will have to lay her up indefinitely. As Lundin is an important customer to us, we want to be flexible to adapt to their change of needs."
Island Duchess has been in Las Palmas available for jobs off the coast of Africa, but low activity has forced the company to lay up the vessel, which is now in Ulsteinvik.
