Three 57,000-dwt bulkers, which, according to Fairplay’s database, are due for delivery by July from STX Offshore & Shipbuilding’s Jinhae yard, are said to have been sold by the yard to European buyers for $24.3m apiece.
The implication is that Trojan Marine of Greece may have cancelled the orders.
Trojan had originally booked five 57,000-dwt bulkers and eight 81,000-dwt kamsarmax bulkers.
However, by the end of 2010, four of the kamsarmaxes had been dropped — one was cancelled and the remaining three apparently converted to 57,000-dwt bulkers with deliveries in 2012.
