Hyundai Heavy Industries has been awarded an order for four post-panamax pure car/truck carriers (PCTC) from domestic logistic firm, Hyundai Glovis, which are slated for delivery in 2014.
The Korean-owned logistic firm has revealed that it booked four PCTCs for replacing its old tonnage comprising both chartered and owned, expecting the newbuildings will enhance the fleet’s fuel-efficiency.
The cost of the four 7,300 ceu newbuildings has not been disclosed but industry sources estimated it to come to around $70m apiece.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Glovis has previously placed an order for four PCTC, one 6,300 ceu and three 7,300 ceu at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, due for delivery between 2013 and early 2015.
