China’s Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) is placed an order for a 30,000 cbm liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier with an option from CNOOC Energy & Technology Services (CETS).
The confirmed eco-friendly LNG carrier is slated for delivery in early 2015, classified by the China Classification Society (CCS).
The newbuilding is the firstly built small-sized LNG carrier in China, having world’s largest C-type cargo capacity. Jiangnan presented various statements regarding the vessel’s design during bid processes with its long-accumulated experience in design and construct of LNGC that it is said to have pretty good appraisals.
Meanwhile, last May, Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute (SDARI) had proceeded with the design of the project and later in January of this year, Jiangnan and Dalian Shipbuilding Industry (DSIC) competed to win the project with the news that the negotiation almost came to the finish.
