China’s Bohai Ferry announced on May 21 through a regulatory filing that it is planning to place an order for two 2,500 lane-meter Ro-Ro ships equipped to carry 2,300 passengers considering shipbuilding and overall market condition in line with the company’s mid and long-term development plan.
Each newbuild is said to be costing around CNY 380m ($61m), totaling CNY 760m overall.
The 65% of construction cost will be financed by a bank loan and the loan will be repaid in five years after the vessel entered the market. Its interest cost is said to be decreasing year by year.
