Major Chinese sales gallop
In this year to November, newbuilding order intakes penned by China’s 39 shipbuilding companies which are subject to be monitored amounted to a combined 49.55m dwt, sharply up by 253% comparing with the same time period a year ago. However, the 39 shipbuilders delivered a total of 32.07m dwt ships, decreasing by 28.8% year-on-year, while standing on orderbook of 108.96m dwt, up by 7.7%, as of the end of November.
According to the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI), 39 major shipbuilders had order intakes of ships for export totaling 46.13m dwt during January-November of the year, a sharp increase of 319%, however delivered 27.22m dwt ships for export, down by 28.9% year-on-year. As of the end of November, orderbook of ships for export recorded 95.44m dwt, a 13.7% increase.
Meanwhile, ships for export accounted for 84.9%, 93.1% and 87.6% share of order intake, delivery, and orderbook of the 39 major shipbuilders, respectively.
