The subsidiary of Shanghai Bestway Marine Engineering Design has sealed a deal to design and procure 200 LNG-powered dry bulk vessels for compatriot firm Green Power Water Transport Company.

Shanghai Bestway Marine Technology Development signed the RMB650m ($105.2m) contract with inland river shipping firm Green Power Water Transport, which is 25% owned by the former and 10% owned by another subsidiary of Shanghai Bestway Marine Engineering Design.

The contract consists of 100 units of 600 dwt LNG-powered bulkers, 50 units of 800 dwt vessels and another 50 units of 1,000 dwt vessels, all due for delivery before 31 March 2015.
