Yangzijiang Clinches 13 Newbuild Orders
Chinese shipyard Yangzijiang Shipbuilding has announced that it entered into 13 new shipbuilding orders in the fourth quarter of 2014 including nine effective orders with a total value of US$388m and four new options worth US$122m.
Yangzijiang won orders for a total of 41 vessels in 2014.
The nine new effective contracts are scheduled for delivery from 2015 to 2017.
“Shipbuilding industry in China recovered strongly in the early part of 2014, before it started to lose momentum in the second half year,” said Ren Yuanlin, chairman of Yangzijiang.
Ren added that the new orders has filled up the yard capacity for the next two years and the company aims to optimize the use of yard resources and prioritize orders with more favorable terms, as well as those in line with the company’s strategy to build larger and more efficient vessels.
